De ese encuentro,\u00a0Dvo\u0159\u00e1k escribi\u00f3: &#8216;Digo sin exagerar que esta obra supera sus dos primeras sinfon\u00edas, [&#8230;] \u00a1Qu\u00e9 magn\u00edficas melod\u00edas hay para el descubrimiento!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de las bellas melod\u00edas que\u00a0Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u00a0se\u00f1al\u00f3, la\u00a0Tercera Sinfon\u00eda\u00a0tambi\u00e9n contiene colores orquestales vibrantes, una flexibilidad r\u00edtmica nunca vista y un mensaje musical escondido. Uno de los motivos principales de la sinfon\u00eda, se basa en la transposici\u00f3n musical de las iniciales de una frase que Brahms repet\u00eda a menudo: &#8216;Frei aber froh&#8217;\u00a0(Libre pero feliz), FAF, es decir: Fa-La-Fa.
