Robert Trevino has established himself as one of the most distinguished American conductors of his generation. He is currently Principal Guest Conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI and previously served as Chief Conductor of the Euskadiko Orkestra (2017–2025) and the Malmö Symphony Orchestra (2019–2021).
He has led numerous international tours across Europe and, beginning with the 2026–27 season, will become Chief Conductor of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra. During the 2025–26 season, Trevino collaborates with renowned ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Wiener Symphoniker, Bamberger Symphoniker and Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, among many others, as well as orchestras in Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Israel. He also returns to Japan with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. Throughout his career, he has been invited by some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Münchner Philharmoniker, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and Orchestre de Paris.
He has also worked with major North American and Asian ensembles, including the NHK Symphony Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared at prestigious international festivals such as the Mahler Festival in Leipzig, the Enescu Festival and the Puccini Festival. In opera, he has conducted productions at the Washington National Opera, as well as at Opernhaus Zürich (Turandot) and Teatro La Fenice (Don Giovanni). In the recording field, his collaboration with Ondine includes a complete cycle of the symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven, recordings devoted to Maurice Ravel and Einojuhani Rautavaara, and the project Americascapes, awarded Best Recording of 2021 by Presto Music and shortlisted for the Gramophone Awards.
Its follow-up, Americascapes 2 – American Opus (2024), further consolidates the project. He has also recorded a highly acclaimed cycle of Max Bruch symphonies with the Bamberger Symphoniker for the CPO label, now considered a benchmark recording.
