Martina Baroni

Mezzosoprano

The Italian mezzosoprano and pianist Martina Baroni is currently studying for a Master’s degree in concert singing at the Munich University of Music and Theatre in the singing class of KS Prof. Christiane Iven. In the season 2024/’25 she will be part of the soloist ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

She began studying piano as a junior at the State Music Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” of Turin, graduating with academic honors in 2022 with Prof. Erik Battaglia. Martina Baroni furthered her studies in opera singing with Prof. Rossella Giacchero, graduating in 2023 with Prof. Silvana Silbano in the same Conservatory. She then spent the following year deepening her knowledge of the lieder repertoire as a singer and pianist at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.

She made her opera debut in the 2015/’16 season of the Teatro Regio of Turin in the role of Frantik in L. Janaček’s “The cunning little vixen”. In 2024, she interpreted ‘the fox’ in P. Valtinoni’s operetta “The Little Prince”. Martina Baroni has also sung and performed as a soloist in various festivals in Italy and abroad, including Unione Musicale, MITO Settembre Musica, Smart Opera, Almo Collegio Borromeo (Italy), Festival Nuits Romatiques (France), Catedral Basílica do Santíssimo Salvador (Brazil), interpreting a repertoire ranging from Bach to Verdi to late 20th century composers.

Her various awards include the first prize and the special prize for the best female voice of Italian nationality at the 27th “Gaetano Zinetti” International Opera Competition, followed by the first prize at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb 2024.
