The National Choir of Colombia, established in July 2023 as part of the “Arts for Peacebuilding” program of the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Knowledge, represents an innovative approach to culture and reconciliation in our country. This choir is not just a musical group; it is a symbol of diversity and progress that reflects Colombia’s cultural and musical richness.
With 80 choir members selected from all regions of the country through a public call, the choir has performed a wide repertoire ranging from operas and symphonic music to traditional Colombian pieces such as pasillos, bambucos, and cumbias, thus highlighting the diversity of sounds that make up our musical identity.
The National Choir of Colombia has had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned groups such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil), the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Caldas Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Their commitment to Colombian choral groups has been fundamental to their mission. Through master classes held in different parts of the country and exchanges of knowledge, they have strengthened choral activity and unity with different regions, contributing to the strengthening of Colombia’s choral ecosystem.
By uniting choral groups from different regions, they have fostered spaces for collaboration and mutual support. This not only enriches the experience of the choir members but also helps create a strong network that promotes Colombia’s musical heritage.
