Arsenii Moon

Winner of the 64th Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition, 24-year-old pianist Arsenii Moon also received the prestigious Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Prize, awarded by unanimous decision of the jury—an honor that had not been granted for nearly three decades.

Arsenii Moon was born in St. Petersburg in 1999. At the age of six, he began his piano studies with Elena Zyabreva. Between 2010 and 2017, he studied with Alexander Sandler, first at the Special Secondary Music School of the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg and later at the conservatory itself. He is currently completing his studies with Sergei Babayan at The Juilliard School in New York.

In 2009, he made his debut with a symphony orchestra at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and in 2011 he gave his first recital at the Mozarthaus Vienna. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including the Sviatoslav Richter Grant from the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation, the Yuri Temirkanov Prize, and the piano prize of the Verbier Festival Academy.

Earlier in his career, he won prizes in several prestigious international competitions, including First Prize at the Horowitz Competition in Ukraine, Second Prize at the Cliburn Junior Competition in the United States, First Prize at the Artur Rubinstein in Memoriam Competition in Poland, and First Prize at the Saint-Priest Competition in France. He has appeared at the Mariinsky International Piano Festival and the Yury Bashmet Festival in Minsk. Between 2015 and 2021, he performed regularly in the programs of the St. Petersburg Music House.

Arsenii has performed with orchestras such as the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, The Minnesota Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica di Bari, St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra. He has collaborated with conductors including Jaap van Zweden, Roberto Treviño, Stanislav Kochanovsky, Mei-Ann Chen, and Valery Gergiev, among others.
