Chloé Van Soeterstède

Chloé Van Soeterstède has established herself as one of the most outstanding conductors of her generation, attracting the attention of orchestras worldwide for her intuitive, sensitive and expressive musicality, as well as for her strong and positive presence on stage. She is particularly valued for her attention to detail, energy and efficiency in rehearsal. Since the 2024/25 season, she has served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Recent engagements include collaborations with the Norwegian Radio Symphony, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra, the Royal Northern Sinfonia, the Orchestre National de Montpellier, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, the Real Filharmonía de Galicia and the RTVE Symphony Orchestra. She has also made highly successful debuts in Australia and New Zealand, and more recently with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Her repertoire ranges from the Classical period to contemporary music, featuring composers such as Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Ravel and Prokofiev, with a particular focus on living composers. She has conducted premieres such as Syrian Voices by Benjamin Attahir and was awarded the Bärenreiter Prize at the Deutscher Dirigentenpreis 2019.

In 2012, she founded Arch Sinfonia, a London-based chamber orchestra known for its energy and its commitment to bringing music closer to audiences. Born in France in 1988, she has been a Taki Alsop Fellow and a Dudamel Fellow, and is currently an Associate Member of the Royal Northern College of Music.
