Patricia Kopatchinskaja

Violin

Patricia Kopatchinskaja is one of the most original and distinctive violinists on the international scene. Born in Chișinău, Moldova, into a family of musicians, she grew up surrounded by traditional music before moving with her family to Vienna, where she studied violin and composition. She later continued her training in Bern with Igor Ozim.

Known for her extraordinary interpretative freedom, Kopatchinskaja approaches each work from a deeply personal perspective, combining the great repertoire with contemporary music and projects that challenge the traditional conventions of the classical concert.

She has collaborated with leading orchestras, conductors and chamber ensembles around the world and has premiered numerous works by contemporary composers. Her recordings have received major international recognition.

Patricia Kopatchinskaja has maintained a close artistic relationship with the Franz Schubert Filharmonia. Following her first collaboration in 2017, she returned in 2022 to perform Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1 under the baton of Tomàs Grau.
