The birth of the virtuoso piano at the Palau de la Música Catalana

The Franz Schubert Filharmonia inaugurates its Season at the Palau de la Música Catalana performing Beethoven's Integral Piano Concertos with the great pianist Paul Lewis, one of the great Beethoven artists of the current scene, and conducted by Tomàs Grau.

Beethoven was a great pianist. In fact, he was an exceptional pianist: perhaps the best of his time. The Viennese public constantly demanded spectacle and virtuosity and Beethoven satisfied them with five concerts for piano and orchestra composed over 15 years.

Concerts that kicked off the birth of the virtuoso piano and a new musical sensibility of which we are all heirs.
