Symphonic celebration with Anna Fedorova and Tomàs Grau

We enjoyed a new night of musical celebration with the Franz Schubert Filharmonia at the Palau de la Música Catalana.

In the first part, pianist Anna Fedorova, eschewing imposed drama, intoxicated us with an interpretation full of hope and emotion of Rachmaninov's Third Piano Concerto, making us participants in her musical world, as lyrical as it is deeply emotional. With the admirable support of maestro Tomàs Grau and the musicians of the Franz Schubert Filharmonia, Fedorova illustrated Rachmaninoff's extremely difficult score with vivid but carefully controlled colors, full of light and emotion.

After the intermission, came The Rite of Spring. Maestro Grau stood at the head of the 113 musicians who made up the orchestra to perform this monument in the history of music.

Grau faced the score without reservations. With clear and flowing movements, the maestro gave a reading of precise details, where all sections of the orchestra built a strong narrative that moved us emotionally through each and every measure of the score. Stravinsky's melodic cells floated through the Palau like almost sung lines and as the tempo quickened, Grau intensified the body of the orchestra until the final Dance of Sacrifice, a climax of great dramatic power.

A night that we will always remember from the Franz Schubert Filharmonia, with the hope of collaborating again soon with the pianist Anna Fedorova.
