We are pleased to present to you the new 2022-23 season of Franz Schubert Filharmonia in the Palau de la Música Catalana. A season built with dedication and inspiration, with the will to offer a wider range of sound landscapes that make us live the greatness of symphonic music by the hand of the best performers.
In this spirit, we will open the season with pianist Ivo Pogorelich and Chopin’s Concerto No. 2, which turned him into a legend. We will follow the harmonies of nature with two emblematic works of the repertoire, such as Mendelssohn’s “The Hebrides” and Beethoven’s “Pastoral” with the direction of Thomas Rösner. We will also draw a musical map of Schubert, Haydn and Mozart, by the hand of three great piano ladies such as Elisabeth Leonskaja and sisters Katia and Marielle Labèque.
The pianist Alice Sara Ott will offer us, in the first instance, a recital of transformation and life with Chopin’s 24 Preludes and, with the violinist Joshua Bell, we will explore images full of beauty and virtuosity with Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. Our conductor Tomàs Grau will illuminate the symphonic territories traced by Dvorák, Schumann and Brahms, and we will enjoy with the great violinist Midori and Tchaikovsky’s sublime Violin Concerto.
To close the season, we will travel through the spaces of music with one of Mendelssohn’s symphonic-coral monuments, the 2nd Symphony “Lobgesang”.
We hope with great illusion to share these sound landscapes that we are now presenting to you and to continue to trace, with our followers, a map of musical memories and emotions.
