Programme notes

The OCM Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Christoph Schlüren and accompanied by violinist Joel Bardolet and flutist Raquele Magalhães, will present at the Josep Carreras Auditorium in Vila-seca a concert with masterpieces by Bach and Mozart, where the flute, violin and string section of the OCM will be the main protagonists.

A program that highlights the absolute premiere in our country of the Paul Büttner’s Symphony for Strings, considered the true heir to the German symphonic tradition after Bruckner and Brahms. In 1933, Nazism ended Paul Buttner’s career by being married to a Jewish woman. Forced to live in ostracism, Paul Buttner wrote this piece where the canon of the third movement, which begins with the E-F-A notes, hides a declaration of love for his wife Eva.

This concert also aims to discover the interesting works of the composers Reinhard Schwarz-Schilling, Giorgio Federico Ghedini, Douglas Lilburn and Nicolas Flagello.

The whole program is constructed as a single composition of contrasting and complemented interrelated movements that make up the final work of five movements symphonically conceived by Paul Büttner.
