Programme notes

After three seasons of steady collaborating with the Orchestra as the main guest conductor, Barcelona’s Jordi Mora closes this period with a true referent: Music for strings, percussion and celesta, a key piece form the composing core of Hungarian master Béla Bartók. This composition dates from 1936 and was commissioned to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Basel Chamber Orchestra. Still with the taste of the celebration of our tenth anniversary in the mouth, we felt this piece suits our program better than ever.

This concert translates as a proposal of contrasts, since the first half appeals to a great name of all times, Johann Sebastian Bach, by the hands of the Orchestra’s piano soloist Jordi Humet. Therefore, a risky program, and enjoyment guaranteed for the listener.
