Programme notes
Among the flock of key interpreters of today´s musical scene we find artist of various profiles: some with strong muscles, others more centered in promoting their uniqueness, versatile musicians… Violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja is one of the outstanding names of this generation of new stars: an impressive musician, trained in a musical environment, which explains her curiosity and high sensibility. On her own words, ‘as an interpreter, I am most interested in the meanings of the communication and in the internal order of the music. I am propelled by my curiosity to explore different musical boundaries’. Her invitation is without a doubt one of the main dishes of our musical season.
By the hand of our permanent conductor Tomàs Grau, we will accompany Kopatchinskaja in the majestic Sibelius concert for violin and orchestra, and we will be playing as well Antonin Dvorák’s Symphony n.9 in mi minor, op.95, also known as New World Symphony.
