Programme notes
Reference and inspiration in equal measure for generations of clarinet and, by extension, woodwind instrumentalists, the German artist Sabine Meyer is the guest of exception in the ninth production season.
Meyer will celebrate along with the musicians and the audience the Sant Jordi’s Day in Barcelona with an afternoon concert at the Palau, where it will sound one of the most famous melodies written for this instrument: Concert for Clarinet and Orchestra in A major of Mozart, a maximum neatness and beauty exercise that Meyer addresses from the interpretative maturity. An interesting note: Sabine Meyer has not performed as a soloist in Barcelona since 1989.
Meyer is the guest of a program that becomes completed with the Serenade for String Orchestra in C major of Txaikovsky. As our conductor Tomàs Grau says, the latter is a composer with whom we feel specially comfortable.
