The Art of Joshua Bell at Palau de la Música Catalana

Yesterday’s recital by Joshua Bell was one of those nights that leave a lasting impression and perfectly capture the spirit of the Franz Schubert Filharmonia’s season at the Palau. Having Bell back with us was an honor, and sharing it with a completely devoted audience, a privilege.

With exquisite phrasing and the unmistakable sound of his Stradivarius, Joshua Bell crafted a musical journey full of nuance: from the clarity of Schubert to the colors of Grieg, and on to the energy and virtuosity of Prokofiev. At his side, Alasdair Beatson offered an attentive and refined accompaniment, establishing a precise and natural dialogue.

The audience’s response, with the entire Palau on its feet, brought the evening to a close with music in capital letters. The Franz Schubert Filharmonia season continues, in a very special year in which we celebrate our first 20 years, with many more concerts to come and more emotions to share at the Palau de la Música Catalana.

Joshua Bell and Alasdair Beatson offered the following encores:

Tchaikovsky: Melodie, Op. 4 No. 3
Wieniawski: Tarantella, Op. 16
Chopin: Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9 No. 2
