Cor Francesc Valls

A professional choir founded in 2003 to take part regularly in the conventual Masses at Barcelona Cathedral. It adopted the name Francesc Valls in homage to the Cathedral’s former maestro de capilla, Francesc Valls i Galan (1671–1747), one of the leading figures of Iberian Baroque music.

The choir’s work combines the performance of sacred polyphony from all periods with previously unpublished works preserved in the cathedral archives, offering a rich weekly repertoire of motets. One of the most notable examples is the Cant de la Sibil·la, in which the 16th-century liturgy and vestments have been reconstructed using original sources.

Under the direction of Pere Lluís Biosca, the Cor Francesc Valls also sings weekly at the international Masses at the Basilica of the Sagrada Família, performing a specific sacred repertoire for choir and organ, from the Baroque period to the present day.
