Goethe expressed his admiration for the way in which Beethoven had musicalized his play Egmont (1809-1810) as he had perfectly described it: the heroism of the Count of Egmont who fought against the oppression of the people until his death. Even if we only listen to the overture, we will be able to hear the suffering of those who feel without freedom and the challenge and the hope of reaching it.
The last four songs (1948) composed by an octogenarian Richard Strauss also represent a challenge for the sopranos who have to combine their lyrical demands with the interpretation of the content of the three poems of Hesse (Spring, September, Going To Sleep) and the one of Eichendorff (In the Twilight). The portentous voice of Ainhoa Arteta, who has been singing for more than a decade, and her interpretative acumen make it seem that there is no such difficulty and she manages to delight us from beginning to end.
Schumann’s second symphony (1846) takes on features of composers that he admired (Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Bach) but with his own personality, in which his emotional instability gives his works a sensitivity, energy and univocal meaning. The four movements arise from the desire to overcome difficulties.

Biography Ainhoa Arteta
After winning the Metropolitan Opera National Council audition in New York and the Concours International de Voix de Opera Plácido Domingo in París, she began her brilliant internacional career in theatres such as the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, Covent Garden, Bayerische Staatsoper, and opera houses such as Scalla de Milán, Arena di Verona, Deutsche Opera, among others, playing principle roles in operas like La Traviata, La Bohème, Romeo et Juliette, Fausto, La Rondine, Euguene Oneguin, Turandot and Manon Lescaut.
She combines her operatic performances with recitals and concertos conducted by the most reputable conductors such as Sir Nivelle Marriner, Gianandrea Noseda, Christopher Hogwood, Vasily Petrenko, Pablo González, Adrian Leaper, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Gustavo Dudamel, Günter Neuhold… and accompanied by renowned pianists like Marco Evangelisti, Rubén Fernández Aguirre, Roger Vignoles and Malcolm Martineau.
In recent years she has received numerous prizes, such as the Gold Medal for the Mérito de las Bellas Artes, the Hispanic Society of America Award; Best artist in Classical Music in the V Edición de los Premios de la Música; Ondas Award for the most notorious work in classical music; Premio Federico Romero from the Author Foundation to her international career, among others.
Her future commitments include Tosca at the Sydney Opera House and in Düsseldorf, Manon Lescaut in San Carlo de Nápoles and at the Bolshoi, Andrea Chenier in Oviedo, I Pagliacci in La Monnaie y La Bohéme in Bilbao, as well as different recital tours around the world.
