Chamber music with soul
We present a concert featuring two fundamental works from the chamber music repertoire. We will open with Carl Nielsen’s Wind Quintet, a work considered to be the most subtle and refined quintet in history. In this work, Nielsen allows the instruments to dialogue with a freedom and character never seen before, fusing the qualities of each in an extraordinary score, where the freshness of the first movement and the serenity of the final chorale stand out, with unprecedented expressive beauty.
Next, we will hear Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence, a piece for string sextet full of tension, energy, and contrasts. Written after a stay in Italy, in this finely crafted work, Tchaikovsky condenses all his compositional genius, combining his art in the creation of melodies of great melodic breadth with passages of a rhythmic force close to dance.
Two gems from the repertoire that we rarely get to hear in concert and which we will be able to discover performed by the soloists of the Franz Schubert Filharmonia.
