Haydn and Mozart maintained an excellent relationship throughout their lives. Each congratulated and rejoiced in the merits of the other and recognized the authority of Bach as one of the greatest composers of the Baroque period. Being able to listen to the same concert works that summarize the music of the eighteenth century is not at all common and yet will allow us to understand why much of Western musical inspiration orbits around these three stars.
In the hands of the young Mariona Camats, who in addition to having won the Pau Casals scholarship in 2016 plays a cello that belonged to the maestro himself, we will have the opportunity to listen to a concert that Haydn wrote between 1791 and 1795 but which had disappeared for almost 200 years. With Mozart’s symphony No. 29, we will hear a work in which the virtues of chamber music and the symphony are masterfully mixed: the elegant solo horns in the first movement and the medium-sound of the strings in the second contrast with the rhythmic energy in the third and fourth.

Biography Mariona Camats
Born in La Garriga (Barcelona) in 1997, she began playing the cello at age six under the tutelage of Anna Mora and later of Lluís Claret. She is currently studying at the Leopold Mozart Zentrum in the University of Augsburg (Germany) with Professor Julius Berger. In October 2016, she was awarded the Pau Casals International Scholarship, which is awarded every two years by the Pau Casals Foundation.
She has received master classes from Gary Hoffman, Jens Peter Maintz, Laurence Lesser, Amit Peled, Young-Chang Cho, María de Macedo, José Mor, Asier Polo and Gavriel Lipkind, among others. She has participated in The International Holland Music Sessions, the Mozarteum International Sommerakademie in Salzburg, in the masterclasses of the Kronberg Academy and in the Beijing 2018 Supercell Festival, among others.
To date, she has won several first prizes, including the City of Sant Cugat del Vallès Young Interpreters Competition (2009 and 2011), the Cuerdas de Barcelona Contest (2012), the “Grand Prix” prize at the FLAME Competition in Paris (2012 ), the first prize at the VicCelloFestival (2014) and the Johannes-Andreas-Stein Wettbewerb (2016).
Apart from performing masterclasses and performances in France, Germany, Britain, Italy, Holland, Austria and China, she has also collaborated with, among others, the Violonchelistas group of Barcelona, the Corella Ballet Company and, as a soloist, with the Vallès Youth Symphony Orchestra, directed by Gilles Apap, the Camara Musicae Symphony Orchestra, directed by Tomás Grau, the JONC Philarmonia – directed by Manel Valdivieso, the Bruckner Akademie Orchester, directed by Jordi Morales and the Granollers Chamber Orchestra, directed by Guy van Waas. Recently, she has been part of the 2017-18 Musicians’ Network of the Musical Youth of Catalonia.
